Fusaro, Altomare & Ermilio, in conjunction with the Seven Hills Global Outreach Foundation, recently contributed to a joint emergency gift to aid those suffering from the Ebola virus in the Bandawa region of Sierra Leone. Dr. David A. Jordan, President of the Seven Hills Foundation, who coordinated the effort and also contributed, sent along the following report and letter of thanks:
“I wanted to share with you Pastor Kanu’s report on what was accomplished by [our] ‘emergency’ gift to address the Ebola crisis in our Bandawa region of Sierra Leone. [The funds] have done so much to both prepare for the crisis and hopefully prevent any unnecessary spread of it into the 22 villages we support around our Bandawa campus outside of BO. The funds you gave bought each village a chlorination station; it paid for all of the infection control gowns and eyewear required by our nurses and our chief medical officer; it paid for us to hire nurses to go into the bush to every one of the 22 villages and train local people on cleanliness- if someone is thought infected, isolation techniques- and a host of other supports given to support the 10,000 in our care among the 22 villages. No other community outreach effort as we have done – directly as a result of your gift – has been done anywhere else in the country to Pastor’s knowledge. Even the government is asking him what we did and if it can be duplicated elsewhere. [With the gift] we may have avoided – in our catchment area anyways- a crisis of significance so large we can’t imagine.”
